Post Post Covert from Wills Wing

As you might of noticed, I flew in Dustins old threadbare Rotor
at SCFR. Nene makes a great harness but I was many times regretting my decision
not to have Jeff Shapiro make me a harness before he stopped production. Its
probably just as well because I had a little more motivation to make the changes
that I had been holding out for. As it turns out, Dustin was also anxious for a
new harness, agreed with my proposed changes, contributed some great new details
and had time to fabricate the prototypess. We made one unflyable mock-up from
the original patterns that I developed for Jeff then Dustin made the current
prototype with the revisions.
In summary, the back plate, slider and shape are unchanged from my original
design used in the Covert. The parachute release system is very close the
configuration that Jeff developed. The shell material is the same diamond
ripstop that Jeff selected and which weve been using for the Flylites. From
there on, everything else is new including the webbing structure, back plate
capture system, and almost everything about the inner and outer shell
construction. The new harness is much lighter, even cleaner and lower profile
than the original and most importantly, manufacturable at a reasonable cost.
Dustin finished sewing literally minutes before we left for the airport to get
him on the flight to Colombia and I havent talked to him since, but I expect
well make at least one more prototype and hopefully be in production at Wills
Wing later in the Spring.
