There is a low pressure center off the Texas coast that is
bringing in lots of rain to Houston, and spitting out a bunch of moisture and
clouds in our direction. It looked like over running on the morning combined
with lots of scud.


I decided to give it a try with the new WW Falcon 3 170 given that the later
forecast for winds shows south east, as opposed to east southeast winds. With
the Falcon you've pretty much have got to go down wind early in the flight and
its hard to get around Laredo if you don't go strong to the east first.


The clouds were thick when Armand pulled me up at 10:30 AM. Still cloud base was
quite high at 3,600' MSL. I headed north northeast to get under some clouds but
found only weak lift. I was able to climb back to 2,000' MSL and that was it. I
then headed cross wind to get near and area where I could get retrieved if I
didn't get up. 


I didn't get up and landed in a newly cleared off area that will soon have a gas
well.
