Peregrine Falcon on the Attack

Peregrine Falcons are super fast and not afraid to attack any
birds in their nesting territory. I watched and photographed this bird dive at a
Red tailed Hawk five times. It made passes from the right to left and did a
climbing turn to the right after each dive.
The main defense used by hawks and eagles is to roll over and have their deadly
talons ready to play catch. This falcon came very close, sometimes within
inches while diving at high speed.
The falcon backed off after the fifth strafing attack and the hawk dove down to
the cliff and landed.
