Category 1 meets = Category 2 meets
A while back CIVL got rid of any difference in the value of
Category 1 and Category 2 competitions. Their value in terms of World ranking is
the same. The value of any given meet depends on the rankings of the pilots that
attend that competition.
It looks like we will be holding the 1st Pan-American Championships in August
2020 in Big Spring, Texas. While CIVL will designate only the Class 1 portion of
the Pan-American Championships as Category 1, we will include Sport Class,
Women's, Class 2 and Class 5 right along with Class 1 in the competition. The
competition will be a combination of the 1st Pan-American Championships and the
2020 Big Spring Nationals. All classes will be included in all the ceremonies
We look forward to strong representation in all classes given the great flying
conditions in Texas. All classes will have their own task committees to
determine the best task for each class. CIVL officials will be at the
competition to assist the meet organizers in making sure that we run a fair,
fun, and safe competition.
The city of Big Spring and the airport personnel will be going all out to
support the competition and we can expect great things from them given how well
they have supported the pilots over the last 15 years.
We hope to see you in Texas in 2019 and 2020. More information will be available
