Final Glide to Sarita
Jonny Durand and Robin Hamilton were thermaling up together well
inside the seven kilometer Magma turnpoint cylinder north of the town of
Coolidge on the third day of the 2018 Santa Cruz Flats Race. This was the last
turnpoint and when they got high enough they went on final glide together.
At goal:
Jonny is 759 and the red line
Robin is 772 and the blue line.

Robin starts out first 70' below Jonny.

Robin started 70' lower than Jonny, flew to goal in 10:51 minutes, flew at 54
mph, arriving at goal at 2414' with an L/D at 13.3. Robin was in rising air for
29 seconds.
Jonny started 100 meters behind Robin if we assume the same start times, flew to
goal in 11:35 minutes, flew at 50 mph, arriving at goal at 2191' with an L/D of
12.3. Jonny was in rising air for 1:04 minutes.
The wind direction was approximately perpendicular to the last
leg.
