I just learned of Matt Brown’s passing and I thought your readers
may want to know as many of us got to connect with Matt during the 2017 Quest
Air Open.

I had the opportunity to meet Matt and Julia at the 2017 Quest Air Open as we
were camping near each other on the west side of the field under the oaks. Matt
quickly settled into the comp pace and came back to the field everyday with new
stories and experiences to share and lots of questions. Matt and Julia settled
into the 2017 Quest Air Open hang gliding community quickly and we celebrated
Julia’s birthday up in the clubhouse with the usual suspects. Matt finished well
in the sport class and vowed that he would be back next year as he waved goodbye
wearing a huge smile. I will miss the opportunity to hang out with Matt.

My heart goes out to Julia and their sons, friends and family as well as his
flying, rafting, and patrol tribes.
