It seems from this vantage point (and during the competition also)
that the 2007 Forbes Flatlands was the best Australian hang gliding competition
ever and perhaps one of the best hang gliding competitions ever held. I reported

I think that Gerolf was the "best" pilot at the Forbes Flatlands,
but obviously not the most consistently best. He placed first twice, second
once, and third once. Going into the last day he was in first place in the FTV
version of the scoring

On the day after the Forbes Flatlands Lukas Bader was planning to fly his hang
glider from Forbes to Mt. Beauty. That would be a pretty long flight (380 km),
but there were strong northerly winds.

One witnesses has stated that when they examined Olli's harness,
before I got a chance to look it it, the backup did in fact go through the small
slots in the back plate (where as I just have Velcro there as does Olli's
harness now). And that when this problem was pointed out to Olli, he was able to
reroute the backup through the main slot... mehr

First, Andy did have his backup attached.
Second, there is normally only one loop around the slider. The second "loop"
actually, half a loop, is the backup.
Third, the primary riser was separated by Andy's tuck at about 1.5 cm above the
slider.
