Location:
This historical hotel is located by the beautiful banks of the lake, sheltered by Monte Brè (on the east bank) and San Salvatore (on the west bank). This south-facing seaside resort, Lugano, is highly valued during the low season (spring and autumn). The villa is located in a former royal residence on the top of the Golden Hill. From here, guests are able to enjoy a majestic view of the city and Lugano Lake. The city centre, nightclubs and shopping opportunities are located within around a 10-minute drive from the hotel. From the train station guests are just 5 minutes away from the hotel.
Facilities:
Built in 1926, this air-conditioned hotel with a garden and terrace includes 75 rooms, of which 25 are junior suites and 4 are suites, across 2 floors. Amongst the hotel's facilities count a foyer with 24-hour reception, safe, a currency exchange counter, a cloakroom, lifts and a café. In addition, guests are able to take advantage of the piano bar with live music every evening, 5 conference rooms, public Internet access with WLAN access (for a fee), a laundry service (added fee), a car park as well as a garage (also for an added fee). The restaurant Principe Leopoldo features tapestry-covered walls, comfortable chairs, marble floors and subtle lighting. The star of the hotel is Dario Ranza, who has been managing the kitchen for 12 years.
Rooms:
The large junior suites in the villa are 60 m² and overlook the lake or the garden. The particularly comfortable, 41 m² rooms offer a cosy lounge area, a bathroom as well as a terrace or a patio. In addition, facilities include a direct dial telephone, satellite/ cable TV, a radio, a minibar, a double or king-size bed and individually adjustable heating and air conditioning as well as a hire safe.
Sports/Entertainment:
Leisure facilities include a heated outdoor pool, a pool bar, a Jacuzzi, a sauna, a wide range of massage offerings (charges apply), tennis and table tennis games as well as a gym.
Meals:
Guests may serve themselves at the breakfast buffet. Guests may book bed and breakfast.
Payment:
American Express, Diners Club, JCB, MasterCard and VISA are all accepted in the hotel.
How to get there:
Arriving by plane: a complimentary shuttle service runs from Lugano-Agno airport on request. Malpensa-Milano airport: a shuttle can be booked from this airport. By train: a complimentary shuttle service also runs from Lugano train station on request. Arriving by car: exit the motorway at Lugano South and drive towards Lago. Stay in the left lane on reaching the first set of lights take a further left and drive towards Ponte Tresa. The hotel is only around 3 km from the hotel.
