Esse é o gato mais charmoso e absurdamente divertido que já passou pela TV. Com seu jeito aristocrático - e um tanto inglês - de andar e segurar uma piteira (nos episódios mais antigos), a Pantera Cor-de-Rosa sempre conseguia transformar coisas simples em situações engraçadíssimas.
A Pantera começou a carreira na telona: "A Pantera Cor-de-Rosa", segundo filme da série de histórias do Inspetor Clouseau.
A pantera em questão é o maior diamante do mundo, que é roubado por um misterioso ladrão de jóias. Já a Pantera que conhecemos é o personagem criado por David DePatie e Friz Freeleng para apresentar o filme. A vinheta que aparece nos créditos iniciais é uma paródia da história: o Inspetor Clouseau aparece perseguindo a Pantera, que consegue escapar dos jeitos mais esdrúxulos e engraçados.
Com o sucesso da vinheta, ela foi promovida a estrela. O episódio-piloto, "The Pink Phink", lançado em 1964, foi o primeiro desenho animado a ganhar um Oscar. Em 1969, a Pantera Cor-de-Rosa ganhou seu próximo show na TV. Quando não é o próprio Clouseau que está em cena aturando as maluquices nonsense da Pantera, é um sujeito muito parecido: um homenzinho narigudo, que faz vários pápeis, dependendo da história.
No fim dos anos 70, o desenho animado da pantera já tinha transformado a personagem felina, o Inspetor Clouseau e a música-tema, composta por Henry Mancini, em um fenômeno de massa mundial.
Obs.: Lembre que o desenho é mudo (ou seja, tem música, efeitos sonoros etc, mas não possui falas dos personagens em 122 dos 124 episódios), mas os dvds contém LEGENDAS EM PORTUGUÊS DE PORTUGAL, referentes aos títulos, placas que aparecem no desenho etc, e também legendas dos diálogos dos 2 únicos episódios falados. Esta é a versão européia dos dvds, por isso as legendas estão em português de Portugal. Esta rara coleção não foi lançada no Brasil
