In ganz Kuba die wohl bequemste Stelle um rauszugehen mit fantastischen Flugmöglichkeiten.
Unbedingt erforderlich:
Perfektes Toplanden. Bei Notlandung in Dos Bocas (nächster Ort zur Küste) sind zur Rückkehr 25km Strecke durch die Berge zurückzulegen. Das geht nur mit Rückholer - vor Ort kein Taxi!!!
Im westlichen Teil der Sierra Maestra liegt das Hafenstädtchen Pilon.
Startplatz ist in der Nähe des Radoms oberhalb der Stadt, den man bequem mit dem Auto anfahren kann.
Das Gelände ist ein perfekt zur Küste ausgerichteter Hang. Das Meer ist in ca. 5km Entfernung zu sehen.

Flug
Die Landschaft ist ein wahrer Segen für Flieger, genau wie die Bedingungen für Überlandflüge. Es ist möglich im ca. 5km südöstlich vom start gelegenen Pilón zu landen.

This place is part of the Sierra Maestra mountain range. The flying site is a perfect coastward-looking slope of 150 m asl (average) and it is 5 km apart from the sea. There is a good-shape road to the meteorological radar near the TO. The landscape is a blessing and so the flying conditions for XC, is also possible to land at Pilón town which is about 5 km SE from the TO. |

You need to steep down a littler, like 100 m to find it, it´s
not to big, but there enoght space to one glider, if you prefer the biger
one, to feel more confortable you need to walk like 600 m to the east, and
then you will find it.
Landeplatz: The land place it´s real big enoght to land a plane on there,
it´s located 2 Km. to the east of the take off, exactly on the Dos Bocas
village, near to another road to Pilon.
Start Richtungen: S and SE
El Radar it´s one of our best fly zone, it´s placed in front to the sea
(like 8 Km) and the mostly part of the year you can fly. You can go by until
the top of the mountain, becous in the uper part, there´s a Meteorological
Radar. El Radar it´s usefull to every kaind of pilots, fron biginer to
profesional, becouse the condition are really good to fly there, you just
need to wait the magical moment. It´s placed 6 km at suth fron the way to
pilon (going in for Sevilla), and 10 from the town. |

Esta ladera forma parte de una pequeña cordillera que se extende de oeste a este en la costa sur de Granma. Con una altura de 508m con vista al mar, en la sima de la montaña se encuentra el radar meteorológico. La vegetatión es espesa y variada, rica en flora y fauna al frente se extiende vastas llanuras que colindan con la arilla del mar. Esta ladera es ideal para el vuelo termico y orográfico es considerada por algunos entendidos extranjeros como una las mejores zonas de vuelo del país. El acceso al despegue se realiza en auto o carro. carretera en buenas condiciones. |
